Obituary of George J. Link

George J. Link, Jr, 91, of Baldwinsville passed away Dec. 25 at home. He graduated from Oneonta State College with a degree in teaching and then got his Masters in Administration from SU. He worked for several districts prior to settling in Baldwinsville with his beloved wife, Betty and the kids. He retired from Baldwinsville Central School District after 30 years. George (and Betty) were avid beach goers and took many family vacations to Myrtle Beach. Upon his retirement, George and Betty vacationed in Hilton Head, Cape Cod and North Myrtle Beach, all becoming like second homes to them. They met and made many lasting friendships wherever their travels took them. Both George and Betty were pioneers in advocating for Deaf children and their families in the Syracuse area. They both will be remembered as a team that was full of life, love, humor and an ever present helping hand. George was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 66 years, Betty, (who passed in 2017), and his parents, George and Margaret Link. George is survived by his children, Laurinda (David Nosewicz) Dykes, Timothy Link and Peggy Link; grandchildren Jennifer (Cory), Jessica (Vince), Joey, Anderson and Ethan and two great grandchildren, Anthony and Thomas; his sister Grayce and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 11 to 2pm, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St. Services will immediately proceed at 2:30 pm, Saturday, Jan 4th 2020, at Community Wesleyan Church, 112 Downer St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation (BCSF) Dollars for Scholars, P.O. Box 88, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." Benjamin Franklin
