Obituary of Marjorie Naylor Benoit

Marjorie Naylor Benoit, 91, passed away peacefully at the Syracuse Home on June 29, 2019. Born and raised in Ord, Nebraska, she was the eldest of 5 siblings born to Irma & Guy Mulligan. She attended Southwestern College in Kansas to study music, where she met William Halligan. Shortly after, they married and moved to Syracuse, NY, eventually making their home in Baldwinsville where they had 6 children. Marjorie worked as a substitute music teacher and at Seneca Federal Bank and First Trust Bank. She then worked at the assessor's office for the Town of Lysander, where she retired. After her mother passed away, she passionately embarked upon a nursing career as a CNA at the Syracuse Home for 10 years, later working as a receptionist & volunteer, and still playing piano leading hymns for Sunday services up until last year. Marjorie was also a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the choir and Owls & Samasan. She was also a long-time member of Eastern Star & Daughters of Rebekahs.

She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Melvin & Eldon, sister Verlee Porter, brother in law Son Porter, brother in law Carl Schauer & great grandson Cory Drew Halligan. She is survived by her sister, Charlene Schauer, Nebraska, 2 daughters, Christina Kline, Clay NY, Sharon (Steve) Hewitt, Marietta NY, 4 sons, William Halligan Jr, FL, David (Patti) Halligan, MN, Jonathan Halligan, FL, & Daniel Halligan Baldwinsville NY, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.

Marjorie's spirit and expression of music, service and love have impacted those she touched and have been passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, reverberating for generations to come. The entire family would like to thank the staff at Syracuse Home & Hospice for their love, compassion and care. Calling hours are Friday July 5 from 3-5 at Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville with service & Eastern Star ceremony to follow.
